Extra Credit Reading Notes: Babbitt. Jataka Tales, Part B

 The King's White Elephant

An elephant stumbled upon some carpenters with a limp. The carpenters examined his foot and pulled out a splinter. The elephant appreciated the care and wanted to return the favor. He helped with the trees and was fed. The elephant had a son who was white all over wanted him to help the carpenters. Once told of the kindness from the carpenters, the young elephant went to help. At night he played with the children by the river. One day, a king came down to the river and saw the beautiful elephant. He immediately bought him and took great care of him.
